The New York State School Music Association has named 18 Fayetteville-Manlius High School musicians to the 2011 All-State performance groups.
“This is the highest honor for musicians in the state,” said F-M District Coordinator of Music David Brown. “F-M has the third largest number of students selected in the state and twice as many students than other schools in Onondaga County.”
The students will perform Dec. 1 to 4 in ensembles with students from across the state at the 76th annual New York State School Music Association Conference in Rochester.
Statewide, thousands of sophomores and juniors auditioned for All-State last spring at NYSSMA solo and ensemble festivals. Students are selected based primarily on numerical scores and rankings. Other factors include instructor recommendations, grade in school, previous All-State performances, and participation in additional musical organizations.
