Buffalo-based West of Odessa performs at the Jewish Music & Cultural Festival in DeWitt. The band returns Sunday along with many other festival favorites.
DeWitt The 12th annual Jewish Music & Cultural Festival will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, at the Jewish Community Center of Syracuse, 5655 Thompson Road, DeWitt.
The event will feature music by internationally known artists Atzilut, ZETZ! and Susan Gaeta, and local favorites Keyna Hora Klezmer Band, Jonathan Dinkin and Klezmercuse, and the Kenesseth Shalom Singers, to name a few.
The festival’s selection of Kosher Jewish foods will include brisket, corned beef, knishes, hot dogs, falafel, kugel, Israeli chopped salad and, new this year, deep-fried Matzo Balls.
Community tents, sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Central New York, will highlight Jewish organizations along with area synagogues. This year the festival is introducing “Rosh Hashanah on the Lawn at the Rabbis Corner,” where Central New York rabbis will be sharing different aspects of the upcoming holidays.
As always, there will be plenty of activities for children of all ages and an interesting & eclectic array of artisans. The festival is free to attend; all are welcome.
