CazCares and Cazenovia Public Library will be sponsoring an 8-week dental awareness program this fall, “TEETH,” for preschoolers and their families. Hosted by the Story Room at CazCares, the program kicks off with a presentation by Cheri Elefante of Mohawk Valley Perinatal Network at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27.
“Many of us have had bad experiences at the dentist, but it’s important to not pass along those uncomfortable feelings and fears to our children,” said Perinatal Program Associate Cheri Elefante.
Her presentation will cover topics such as what pregnant women should know about oral health, how families can prevent dental disease and why baby teeth are important. Free dental goodies such as toothbrushes and tooth fairy boxes will be given out to families to help promote healthy teeth.
Cazenovia and DeRuyter dentist, Dr Vikas Goel, of Goel Family Dentistry, will also sponsor the program, offering food pantry families dental goodies as well as information on good dental care.
Throughout the 8-week program healthy snacks and free dental care items like coloring books and free toothbrushes, dental floss and tooth paste will be available for families. There may also be guest appearances by Seven Valley Health Coalition’s “Mighty Molar.”
