Baldwinsville The Baldwinsville Central School District Board of Education has changed the district’s spring break to the week of April 9 to 13, 2012.
The change, approved during the board’s Sept. 19 meeting, was necessary due to the New York State Education Department’s scheduling of the third through eighth grade ELA assessments for the week of April 16 to 20, 2012. This was the week that the district had originally scheduled for spring break. About 10 percent of school districts statewide, including all 23 of the districts in the Onondaga-Cortland-Madison BOCES, have had to reschedule spring break.
“The district recognizes the disruption and financial impact this change will have on our families and staff who made plans and personal commitments for the week of April 16, 2012,” said Superintendent Jeanne Dangle. “We regret the inconvenience this change may cause, as well as the lost time in instruction for our students, but we have had no choice but to comply with the state’s directive.”
The rescheduling of spring break will necessitate the rescheduling of district and school events and activities that were set for the week of April 9, 2012. As new dates are determined for these events and activities, the district and schools will keep families and community members updated.
