Shepard wins republican nomination

— After a heated primary race, republicans in the 13th district of Onondaga County have chosen their candidate.

Contender Derek Shepard has unofficially won the republican nomination for county legislator against 20-year incumbent Bob Warner during today’s primary election. According to the Onondaga County Board of Election’s website, which posts the unofficial results of every election in the county, Shepard received 612 votes while Warner received 413 votes.

While Warner will not be on the republican line in the November election, he will be on the conservative line after receiving 30 out of 55 conservative votes in tonight’s election. He was unchallenged in the conservative primary.
