continued —The board was informed that the Department of Environmental Conservation has a meeting with AstraZeneca (formerly Stauffer Chemical Company) officials on Sept. 20 concerning environmental cleanup at their defunct and contaminated Jordan Road industrial site. “The DEC is not satisfied [with the cleanup progress at the site] and we are not either,” said Roney. The DEC is prodding AstraZeneca to do more cleaning and groundwater monitoring, and will update the board on the results of its Sept. 20 meeting later in the month.
—The board changed two dates of its regular meeting schedule. It will meet at 7 p.m. Monday Sept. 19, rather than the usual Thursday, Sept. 15; and at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, rather than the schedule Thursday, Oct. 6.
—The board also scheduled a hamlet meeting for Shepard Settlement for 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 11, at Jack Burns’ barn.
