Bridgeport Due to the recent heavy rains, the Bridgeport Duck Race has been rescheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday Sept. 17.
“The water level in our creek is simply too treacherous for 3,000 little ducks to navigate to the finish line,” said Carol Benedict, who is in charge of marketing for the event. “Our volunteers who assist in the creek did a trial run [Friday Sept. 9] and felt the event would be too dangerous with the creek so full of rapidly moving water. Nothing else has changed, just the date, and winning duck holders will be notified after the rescheduled race.”
The race raises money for the Bridgeport Food Pantry. Past events have raised as much as $25,000.
