Cazenovia In an effort to educate residents, and reduce the amount of tickets written for violations along Emory Avenue, local officials wish to remind Cazenovia drivers of the new parking changes for the recently reconstructed roadway.
Two designated pick-up/drop-off zones were added along Emory Avenue, along with eight two-hour parking spots and six all-day parking spots.
However, in the past two months, police officers have had to write a number of tickets for residents who have not observed posted parking regulations.
Residents have often parked illegally during school events, creating unsafe situations and uncertainty as to when parking rules would be enforced.
The new street has been carefully designed to improve safety and maximize efficient traffic flow in this busy part of the village. As such, all traffic and parking regulations will be strictly enforced.
The six spots located on the southern-side of the western-half of Emory Avenue, across from the high school, are available for all-day parking. While these are frequently occupied by students, they are open to all drivers, every day.
Drivers should take care to avoid the striped-off areas near fire hydrants, crosswalks and sidewalks.
The drop-off zone in front of the high school is reserved for drop-off/pick-up use as well as loading Cazenovia buses and visiting bus parking. Cars are not allowed to park there at any time. Even on weekends, this area is frequently used for buses. Cars parked in the drop-off zone at any time will be ticketed.
The eight spots located on the northern-side of the eastern-half of Emory Avenue are available for two-hour parking, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. and parking without a time limit after 3 p.m.
From 7 to 8 a.m. and from 2 to 3 p.m. these spots are designated drop-off/pick-up only, to enhance the safe transit of students and to allow vehicles to flow smoothly to the designated drop-off zone near the middle school bus circle.
