Baldwinsville I am writing this letter to thank everyone that has believed in me and supported me in my campaign to become Lysander Town Supervisor. I was encouraged and thrilled by all of you who signed my petition and who came out to vote for me in the Republican primary election. You let me know that there is a growing group of people who are dissatisfied with the current leadership in Lysander and think that a change is in order.
While it is true that Barry Bullis received 51 percent of the primary vote compared to the 49 percent I got, I did receive more votes than he did in 15 out of the 20 voting districts in Lysander. And if you believe what the Republican Party chairman has stated in the local paper, that Barry Bullis received a unanimous endorsement vote (40-0) from the “LRC,” then haven't Republican voters indicated that the Lysander Republican Committee is out of touch with the mainstream Republicans in Lysander?
I have been single-minded in my quest to be an agent for change, spurred on by those of you who have rallied around me and joined in my cause. I am very grateful for all of your support. After much consideration however, I have decided to withdraw my name from consideration for supervisor of Lysander. The decision was not an easy one, but there are a number of issues that have led me to it.
Despite my passion for running and commitment to changing the status quo here in Lysander, I have recognized the almost insurmountable challenge of being a write-in candidate. It takes a lot more financial resources and public support in order to have a successful write-in campaign, so I was hoping to get my message out to the voters with publicized public debates. Unfortunately, Barry Bullis has taken every step he can to insure that there be no public debates, and if there were any debates at all, that I would not be invited to participate in them.
