Manlius to collect unwanted prescription medications

— National Take Back Day will be held in Manlius this weekend.

The day will allow town of Manlius residents to dispose of unwanted or unused prescription drugs in a safe manner. The day is the second of such held in the town in 2011.

The police will participate in the national event, coordinated by the Drug Enforcement Administration.

In 2010 and April 2011, Americans turned in more than 309 tons of pills.

Residents can drop off the medications at the town of Manlius police department, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 29. Needles or intravenous drugs can not be accepted.
