An Invitation from the Friends of Maxwell Library

— Maxwell Library’s Friends group is a busy bunch. They fundraise, volunteer, and make the library a better place in so many different ways.

The Friends will be on hand at Maxwell Library 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, for an informal Open House. Everyone is welcome. This is a fine opportunity to meet members and find out what they do.

The Friends have several fundraising projects underway this fall. They are participating in Bon-Ton’s Community Days coupon book sale. The cost is just $5, and you can save much more than that during your Bon-Ton shopping spree. The coupons are good all day on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 11 and 12.

Back by popular demand is the “Dining in Camillus” raffle. Tickets will be available at the library for your chance to win gift certificates to area restaurants and other food and drink establishments. The drawing will be held Oct. 22 following the Friends’ Open House.

The group is also compiling a cookbook, and they want your recipes. You don’t have to be a Friend to be included. Just pick up a recipe collection sheet at Maxwell or download one (or more) through the “Friends” tab on the library website, fill it out, and submit it.

As if that weren’t enough, it turns out our Friends are artists as well. Please stop in during the month of October for our very special art exhibit, “Creatively Yours.” Members of the Friends of Maxwell Library are sharing some of their handiwork with the community through Oct. 28 in our gallery. Stop in to see some outstanding photographs, quilts, needlework, and more.

So please, visit with the Friends on Saturday, Oct. 22. See their artwork, find out if you have what it takes to be a Friend, and spend some time with some very special people. You’ll be glad you did.

Maxwell Memorial Library is located at 14 Genesee St., Camillus. The library is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday; and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
