Family swim open to residents

Family swim will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays through May 17 at Baker High School pool. Youth 16 and younger must have a parent accompany them; children younger than 8 must have a parent in the water. Shower facilities and changing areas are available, but no lockers. Lifeguards will be on duty during the program. $1.50 per person, payable at pool; no advanced registration necessary.

Halloween party

A Halloween party for children ages 10 and under will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, in the Durgee Jr. High School cafeteria. Parents are required to stay with their children during the party. $3; registration required by Oct. 24.

Kids holiday baking class

Designed for youth 9 to 14 years old, this holiday baking class will teach the basics of baking while creating some delectable holiday treats. The class will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays, Nov. 21 to Dec. 12. $35; registration required.

Pumpkin decorating

Van Buren Park will host a day of pumpkin decorating from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23 at the park. Participants will take a wagon ride to our pumpkin patch to pick and decorate their own pumpkin. Before leaving, the kids will be able to make their own caramel apples and can take a cup of warm apple cider for their ride back. $8; registration required.

NYC trip

Enjoy a holiday visit to NYC for the day. Arriving at 11 a.m., this family orientated trip gives you nine hours of shopping, sightseeing time or a Broadway matinee in New York City before departing at 8 p.m.; travelers will be dropped off and picked up at Macy's on Broadway. The bus will leave Van Buren Park at 5:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 and returns at 1 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 11. $80; registration required by Nov. 10.
