— By the margin of a single shot, Baldwinsville boys golfer Brendan Polsin missed grabbing a share of the Section III Class AA championship Wednesday afternoon at Green Lakes State Park.

Polsin stayed in a three-way battle for the title with Central Square’s Brandon Payne and West Genesee’s John Clare through all 18 holes.

When the scores were added up, Polsin had a 72, one over par, tied with Clare, and just behind Payne, who won with an even-par 71.

As a team, B’ville also fared quite well, sliding into third place with a total of 396, just 10 shots behind the winners, Fayetteville-Manilus (386), with West Genesee (390) in the runner-up spot.

Christian Nizamis impressed with a round of 76, five over par. Both Polsin and Nizaimis joined 22 other golfers qualifying for the overall Section III tournament, to be staged in late May at Colgate University’s Seven Oaks course.
