Three local fire departments plan open house

— The Cazenovia Fire Department, in conjunction with the New Woodstock and Erieville Fire Departments, will host an Open House from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, in the Cazenovia firehouse at 121 Albany St.

During the open house, there will be demonstrations of firefighting equipment, thermal imaging cameras, extrication equipment, high angle and water rescue teams, as well as emergency medical services.

The intent of the event is to show the public the departments’ equipment and capabilities, both for fire-fighting and rescue-related emergencies.

For those who may be interested in joining a fire department, it is an excellent opportunity to acquire information on our organizations. All volunteer fire departments are in great need of members; this is a good chance to come ask questions and see what they have to offer.

This year, those attending the open house will be eligible to sign up for free raffle prizes. The departments will be giving away multiple door prizes donated from local businesses.

Parking will be available at Buyea’s True Value Hardware, light refreshments will be served and all are welcome.

Don Arnold is the Cazenovia Fire Department Second Assistant Chief. He can be reached at 655-2834 or through the organization’s website, cazenoviafire.org.
