Best bets: Film

From Hitch to the big house

— The ArtRage Gallery screens two very different films this week.

Hitch Fest begins at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, with “The Lady Vanishes,” Alfred Hitchcock’s 1938 thriller starring Margaret Lockwood and Michael Redgrave. The suggested donation is $5.

Admission is free at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, when the Gifford Foundation hosts a showing of the 2009 video “Concrete, Steel and Paint,” directed by Cindy Burstein and Tony Heriza. The documentary focuses on a prison art class which collaborates with crime victims to design a mural about healing.

ArtRage Gallery is located at 505 Hawley Ave., on the city’s near North Side; 218-5711; artragegallery.org.
