— Students at Van Buren Elementary School and Baker High School recently collected small toys, school supplies, and hygiene products to send to needy children through Operation Christmas Child, an annual worldwide collection.

At Van Buren, teacher Melanie Houck’s ESL students and teacher Lisa Lasinski’s third-grade students packed their boxes with crayons, stuffed animals, socks, toothpaste and pads of paper. ESL students at Baker High School also filled several boxes. Mrs. Houck delivered the boxes to a local collection site. Before Christmas, the boxes will be distributed to disadvantaged children around the world.
