The Hornets (again as Manlius XC Club) had 93 points, behind Shaker’s total of 78 points, but ahead of Rush (114 points) and St. Anthony’s (122 points). And junior Nick Ryan took the individual title, too, his time of 15 minutes, 59.1 seconds just enough to hold off Shaker’s Mike Libruk (16:03.8) at the line.
Senior Matt Deyo was seventh (fifth among team competitors) in a clocking of 16:15.6, but Shaker’s third and fourth runners crossed the line before F-M senior Ben Thomas did so in 34th place (22nd team) with his time of 16:58.8.
Two juniors, Colin Fitzgibbons (17:05.3) and Connor Farrell (17:08.9), were in the 31st and 34th team slots, respectively, to round out F-M’s scoring column. Freshman Bryce Millar finished in 17:52.9 and senior Mike Malone had a time of 18:18.5.
Now those 14 F-M runners, along with coach Bill Aris and his son, John, make the long flight to Portland, the girls in pursuit of a sixth straight national title.
