Baldwinsville This week we all give thanks for various people and blessings in our life. We should also be thankful to live in such a giving community.
Whether donating food for Thanksgiving dinners or toys and other needed items to help struggling families at Christmas, spending time volunteering to staff food pantries, our local medical loan closet and helping senior citizens or joining a service organization to help with their mission or sitting on a board of directors of a non-profit agency, the volunteer spirit is very evident here in Baldwinsville.
Volunteers are a very important part of the fabric that makes this such a great community to call home. While it would be wonderful to acknowledge and thank each and every person who gives their time to this community, now is the time to think about a man or woman who go above and beyond to make a difference here in the greater Baldwinsville area.
For decades, the Baldwinsville Volunteer Center has recognized both a man and a woman as the volunteer of the year. The center looks to the Baldwinsville community for nominations.
Take the time to nominate someone who should be recognized as the Outstanding Man or Woman Volunteer for 2011. Nomination forms can be downloaded at bvillevolunteers.org (click on “Awards” and scroll down to “download form”) or stop by the Volunteer Center at 44 Oswego St. between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. weekdays to pick one up. All nominations need to be received by Dec. 31.
