— CCP thanks Brownback for land donation

To the editor:

It is with sincere gratitude that Cazenovia Community Preschool, Inc. wishes to acknowledge Russ Brownback for his recent charitable donation.

Russ Brownback has generously donated a plot of land to CCP, 4.2 acres on the east side of Sims Lane in the village of Cazenovia.

The children of the Cazenovia community have benefitted from the vision and commitment of Cazenovia Community Preschool for more than 40 years.

It was founded on the premise that all children should have access to excellent preschool programming that will prepare them to flourish as students and as citizens. CCP is an important part of the foundation that our community can build for its children and its future.

Now more than 40 years later, Mr. Brownback’s donation is helping CCP to build a new kind of foundation. We are developing plans to build a school, as a permanent location for CCP is long overdue.

This land is a new opportunity for CCP and for our community. Our vision for the school is to build a simple structure that is constructed like a house and that fits in well with other houses in the neighborhood.

Mr. Brownback’s desire was to donate this land to a local not-for-profit organization with a vision that will enhance the Cazenovia community.

The vision of CCP is to continue to provide excellence in preschool programming while also expanding opportunities to enrich the wellness of Cazenovia area families.

Through community collaboration, we will seek to develop inclusive preschool education for children with special needs, as well as K-4 after-school enrichment programming focused on exposing children to music, art, drama and an appreciation of the environment.

In order to be successful in undertaking the building of a school, we need broad community support, collaboration with other not-for-profits and local businesses, grants, volunteers, monetary donations, and in-kind donations of materials and services.

The property donation has inspired CCP’s “Pay it Forward” campaign.

The barn in Caz, located at 2009 Ballina Road, has joined the campaign and is holding a benefit for CCP during their last sale of the season on Nov. 18 and 19 (see page 2 for more information).

If you would like to find out more about how to support CCP’s “Pay it Forward” campaign, please contact CCP Director Torrey Lansing at torrey.lansing@yahoo.com, or call 655-7234.

Thanks again to Russ Brownback and family for supporting our community, our children and our school.
