To the editor:
I just wanted to say a quick thank you for all the support that I received over the past 12-plus months leading up to election day, Nov. 8. While I am very disappointed with the result of all that effort, I inherently know that good things will come from it. I also want to thank all the candidates that ran in all the races affecting the town of DeWitt. I know all the “teams” have the best interest of the town at heart, even if we are not on the same side of the issues.
I also need to thank my home and work family for putting up with all the things that a campaign takes away from family and work responsibilities. I tried to manage that and campaign as hard as I could, and I appreciate the support I was given.
Finally to the voters of DeWitt, for those of you that did vote, unfortunately the huge minority, thank you for your efforts. For those registered voters that did not vote and people that are old enough to register but choose not to, I am sincerely confused as to why. My single biggest hope from the campaign (other than winning) was to effect a higher voter turnout than expected, and I am deeply sorry that I was not able to inspire more people to vote.
