To the editor:
Kudos to all the DeWitt Republican candidates for keeping their promise to remove campaign signs promptly. Most signs were gone before lunch on Wednesday, Nov. 9. Highway Superintendent candidate Rocco Conte even had his committee out collecting his signs on Election eve after the polls closed!
Although the outcome of several races was not what I had hoped for, the campaign was for the most part, without any mudslinging. There were certainly some exaggerated accomplishments in the green, fine print flyer, inserted in the Monday newspaper, taking nearly ½ hour to read. I suspect the campaign in 2 years will require a four-page brochure!
Best wishes to the winners and to those who were not successful. Thank you for all your time & effort to bring awareness of the local issues to thousands of residents throughout DeWitt and for wanting to be involved in local government. Sadly, residents of most CNY communities, DeWitt included, do not feel inspired to get out and vote for their representatives… as clearly indicated in a record low turnout on Election Day.
