Air 1 called to brush fire and farm accident in Van Buren

— Last night Onondaga County Sheriff's Department's Air-1 was called help combat a brush fire and medevac the victim of a tractor accident.

First, Air-1 was called to assist the Memphis Fire Department with a large brush fire that was reported on Warners Road, just before 5 p.m. on Election Day. Assisting firefighters on the ground, the Air-1 flight crew utilized the helicopters’ “Bambi Bucket” to conduct three water drops to help extinguish the fire.

The Air-1 helicopter was also called to assist the New York State Police, who responded to a tractor accident reported just before 5:30 p.m. on West Dead Creek Road. There the flight crew, accompanied by Flight Physician Christopher Fullagar, transported a 50-year-old man who sustained serious injuries to University Hospital.
