Cazenovia To the editor:
We are writing to voice strong support for incumbent Ralph Monforte to continue serving as our town of Cazenovia supervisor.
Everyone who knows Ralph appreciates and admires his strong passion and commitment to our town and village. Living and working in our community for over 24 years, he has been involved in nearly every civic, business and governmental organization including Rotary, the Chamber, Caz Children’s House, CAPP, Friends of Lorenzo, Cazenovia Lake Association and many others, too numerous to mention.
He has proven himself to be respectful of others’ opinions, fair and balanced in his approach to issues, and decisive in acting for the good of our community. Ralph is a strong advocate for economic development and the expansion of our tax base. Recent successes in relocating Cazenovia Equipment to the town, development of the Owera Vineyards and the proposed development of a Nice N Easy and Empire Brewery are examples of his commitment to growth that is respectful of the character of our area, but necessary to maintain a vibrant, fiscally healthy community.
In his short time in office, I feel there has been unprecedented cooperation between the town and village in discussing and implementing programs to share services and reduce unnecessary duplication of costs. This is happening at a time when we need it most, and must continue to move in this direction.
Few people realize how involved the job of town supervisor is, and how much time he spends on our behalf in Wampsville representing us at the county-government level, in addition to his work with the town council.
Ralph is instrumental in championing our interests there, and one of his most important jobs is to keep our fair share of county sales tax revenue coming back to our town. He has been able to accomplish this, and be involved with oversight of the planning and public works, as well as the health and human services departments. Ralph is active on many committees at the county level that benefit our town.
Some of his committee assignments have him involved in negotiating wages and benefits for county employees, while looking for ways to streamline and reduce costs to facilitate the operations of major infrastructure such as the Madison County Sewage Treatment Plant. These activities help to keep our county taxes in check.
Ralph has proven himself to be a supervisor for all people. Let’s return him to office for another term.
