Zumba fitness

Zumba fuses hypnotic musical rhythms and tantalizing moves to create a dynamic workout system designed to be fun and easy to do. The goal is simple: Get people to want to work out, to love working out, to get hooked. This five-week program will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays and/or Thursdays, Nov. 21 to Dec. 22, at Lysander Town Hall in the large group room.

Snowmobile safety course

This course, held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Lysander Town Hall auditorium, covers snowmobile safety, common emergencies, dangers, appropriate dress, common maintenance, snowmobile laws, trail markers and signage and hand signals. In order to legally operate a snowmobile on public lands, youth ages 10 to 17 years old must take a snowmobile safety course, obtain a safety certificate and be accompanied by a person over 18. (Bring a lunch for a short break.)

Little Elves Christmas workshop

Drop your little ones (3 to 5 years old) off for a workshop of fun and make believe from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 17 in the large group room at the Lysander Town Hall. Your child will make a craft for someone special for Christmas and write a personal letter to Santa. Parents are welcome to stay or run to get that last minute Christmas shopping in. The instructor for this program is Mrs. Lynn Pinard from Camp Crayola/Baldwinsville Nursery School.

Walking program

If you enjoy walking, join others for a brisk walk at Durgee Jr. High School from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays through March 5. A good way to walk safely indoors and keep fit through the winter months, this program is free and open to all ages; 15 and younger must have adult supervision.

Adult basketball

Recreational play with teams formed from those present will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays through March 5 at Durgee Jr. High School. This is open to adult residents from the towns of Lysander and Van Buren only. No registration required; participants must be 21 years old. Fill out a registration card during first attendance, along with proof of residency (license), then sign in and pay $1 each week. No children allowed.
