Baldwinsville: Students conduct experiments at Tannery Creek

Baker High School field biology students (from left) Matt Wood, Tim Grant and Stefan Merchant measure the velocity of Tannery Creek in the village of Baldwinsville. Students in the class collected physical, chemical and biological data from the creek as part of Project Watershed, a program of the Central New York Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America. The program provides an experienced leader, equipment and expertise to students studying an area's natural resources and watershed. Students worked under the direction of teacher Mark Penhollow and Mat Webber, Project Watershed's coordinator, to collect data including the creek's velocity, temperature and depth, as well as information on vegetation, insects and crustaceans found in the creek.
