As to the game, Marcellus appeared well on its way to recovering from the CBA loss - until a second-half surge by the host Black Knights led to a 20-16 defeat.
Each half was distinct. To start out, Marcellus appeared too potent for Tully to deal with, getting whatever it wanted on the offensive side. However, the Black Knights converted enough to stay within reach, so the Mustangs' 11-6 edge at the break was far from safe.
Sure enough, Tully erupted in the second half, outscoring Marcellus 14-5 as Allyson McNerney, with six goals, along with Alexis Drumm (four goals) and Amanda Briggs (three goals), led the rally, taking full advantage of the Mustangs' fatigue from games on back-to-back nights.
In defeat, Catherine Nolan managed six goals and one assist, with Barry adding five goals and one assist and Molly McGuane managing three goals. Grace Nolan had three assists, with Brooks and Courtney Tomeny managing single goals.
So this left the Mustangs with a final regular-season mark of 12-4, with half the defeats falling within a 24-hour span.
