Four candidates have been endorsed by The Lysander Republican Committee according to Committee Chairman Mike Bishoff. The endorsement of two newcomers and two incumbents came following recent interviews of multiple town residents who expressed an interest and sought the endorsements.
Incumbent Town Supervisor Barry Bullis and Town Justice Claire Rutherford will seek an additional term on November's Republican line. Newcomers Norman Ashbarry and Robert Ellis were endorsed to run for two town board seats that will be vacated at the end of the year.
Ashbarry recently retired from the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation. He is now the law enforcement coordinator for the Cayuga County Child Advocacy Center. Ellis has been employed by Onondaga County Parks for the past 35 years. In addition, he has served on the Lysander Parks Commission for 12 years and as its Chairman for the past six.
"I believe our Committee has chosen outstanding candidates for this year's election," Bishoff said. "And I know we will be hearing more from them in the months ahead."
