Five face DWI charges

At 1:31 a.m. Feb. 2, Officer C.M. Coakley observed a vehicle speeding on Syracuse Street. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was identified as Eric R. Evans, 27, of 488 Idlewood Dr., Baldwinsville. Alcohol involvement was detected and field sobriety tests were administered. Evans was subsequently arrested and charged with felony DWI (previous DWI conviction within the past 10 years), aggravated DWI (BAC above .18 percent), speeding and refusal to submit to a field screening device. He was processed and released on his own recognizance to appear in village court on Feb. 23.

At 2:28 a.m. Feb. 5, Officer C.A. Allen stopped a vehicle after observing it fail to keep right on Oswego Street. The driver of the vehicle was Joshua M. Sieber, 31, of 2305 Chancery Lane, Liverpool. Alcohol involvement was detected and field sobriety tests were administered and Sieber was subsequently arrested and charged with DWI and failure to keep right. He was processed and released on his own recognizance to appear in village court on March 2.

At 2:40 a.m. Feb. 13, members of the Baldwinsville Police Department were stopped by a motorist on Downer Street who stated that his vehicle had just been struck by another vehicle that had left the scene. The second vehicle was subsequently located in the snow bank in the median of I-690 and the driver was identified as James C. Gaffey, 21, of 2191 Connell Terrace, Baldwinsville. Alcohol involvement was detected and after field sobriety tests were administered Gaffey was arrested and charged with DWI, aggravated DWI, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to keep right. He was processed and released on his own recognizance to appear in village court on March 9.

At 1:47 a.m. Feb. 12, Officer C.A. Allen observed a vehicle on Downer Street failing to keep right. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was identified as Nicholas A. Gerard, 25, of 298 Weimer St., Buffalo. Field sobriety tests were conducted and Gerard was arrested and charged with DWI, aggravated DWI, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle and failure to keep right. He was processed and released ROR to appear in village court on March 9.
