Police Officers recognized for DWI crackdown

The 23rd annual Law Enforcement Recognition Luncheon was held on Feb. 16 at the New Beginnings Church in Wampsville. During the event, 18 local officers were recognized for their work in stopping offenders that were driving while intoxicated.

From Cazenovia, officers Matt Janczuk and Kyle Dinardo were recognized for their service. The two earned top honors for their DWI arrests in 2010.

Also recognized was the work of District Attorney Elizabeth Healy, Esq. for bringing DWI cases to court. Healy manages the conditional discharges of ignition interlock monitoring for Madison County.

The Karl Taylor Award was presented to New York State Trooper George Cameron Jr., who has won the award for three straight years. Cameron logged 24 of Madison County's 385 DWI arrests in 2010.
