To the editor:
It is good fortune for the Village of Cazenovia to have Peggy Van Arnam as a trustee now and as an enthusiastic candidate for a second term. She is an energetic, committed and talented member of the village board. The village will benefit from her continued service.
Her responsibilities as a trustee have included water and sewer issues, parking matters and planning for the development of the Riverside Drive property. All are complex concerns that require careful thought and creative ideas for resolution.
Peggy's extraordinary efforts in writing a storm water grant to relieve excess storm water pressure on the sanitary sewer system resulted in the award of up to $325,000 from the NYS Green Innovation Grant Program.
As she always does, she thoroughly researched the possibilities, collaborated with experienced professionals, listened to advice and successfully filed the application. She continues to work on ways to solve the village parking dilemma and on a suitable usage plan for Riverside Drive.
The village is dealing with a number of perplexing problems in these demanding financial times. The current village board has formed an excellent team that has worked to insure openness in governance while recognizing the need for fiscal restraint.
Peggy is an important member of the team, working hard and appreciating the efforts of the village planning and zoning appeals boards and all village employees.
Peggy is committed to the future of Cazenovia and recognizes the need for cooperation and collaboration among the village and surrounding towns. She is smart, steady and energetic.
Her resolve, balanced approach to problem solving, excellent communication skills, respect for differing points of view and intelligent responses leading to reasonable conclusions make her an ideal candidate for a second term on the village board.
We urge you to carefully review Peggy's qualifications, consider her experience and impressive accomplishments and vote for her on June 21. The Village of Cazenovia needs people with her remarkable skills and abilities who are willing to serve as generously and competently as she has.
