CORE FCU awards community grants

CORE Federal Credit Union recently awarded six community-outreach grants to local organizations. In honor of the one-year anniversary of opening its new Morrisville office and as a way to thank the community for their support during its first year in the area, CORE sponsored a community grant program for not-for-profit organizations serving southern and central Madison County.

"We have been thrilled with the warm welcome and level of support we have received at our new office from the residents of central and southern Madison County," said CORE CEO Bill Sweeney. "As a not-for-profit financial cooperative ourselves, we always look for ways to give back to other organizations in the communities that we serve."

CORE received more than $25,000 in donation request from various groups and organizations in Madison County. "While it was a difficult decision and we wish we could have funded them all," Sweeney said. "We were very pleased with the number and quality of proposals that were submitted."

CORE Federal Credit Union awarded grants to CazCares, Community Action Partnership for Madison County, Madison County Office for the Aging, Give Us This Day Food Pantry, Morrisville Fire Department, and Morrisville Community Church Presbyterian Woman's Clothes Basket.

CORE Federal Credit Union is a $72 million dollar not-for-profit financial cooperative that has served members in Central New York for over 50 years, and supports other groups and organizations that work to serve and improve communities.
