Baldwinsville Volunteer Center recognizes support of local biz

At its annual dinner to recognize the outstanding man and woman volunteers for 2010, the Baldwinsville Volunteer Center took the time to pay special recognition to the CNY Family Sports Centre and its owner Pete Ramin.

For the past five years, the CNY Family Sports Centre has served as host for the Volunteer Center's annual fundraiser, A Taste of Baldwinsville. Ramin has donated the Sports Centre for the event each year, giving the Taste of Baldwinsville Committee access to the fields for an entire Saturday, which is during the busiest time of year for the indoor sports center.

In presenting this Benefactor Appreciation Award, Megan O'Donnell said, "Since the Sports Centre is probably the only place left in Baldwinsville that is large enough for the size of the event, we truly could not do it without them."

A Taste of Baldwinsville is the Baldwinsville Volunteer Center's primary fundraising event. Since the Sports Centre has hosted the event, the Center has raised more than $100,000.

"Without being able to hold the Taste of Baldwinsville event, we would need to find several other ways to generate that much money. The support that the CNY Family Sports Centre has shown to the Baldwinsville Volunteer Center has been truly tremendous," said Board President Trish Hipolito.

The award was presented to Jon Ramin, in his father's absence. In accepting the award, Jon said, "We have enjoyed hosting the event and look forward to continuing to work with the Volunteer Center in the future."
