DeWitt Police continue Denny's assault investigation

DeWitt Police are continuing the investigation into an assault that occurred at Denny's Restaurant in the early morning hours of Jan. 30.

The assault resulted in injuries to four people who were inside the restaurant at the time. Injured were Tyquonne Betsey, 20, of East Syracuse, Kevin J. Williams 20, of Syracuse, Jimmie Hudson, 25, of Syracuse, and Josiah M. Jones, 21, of Syracuse. Betsey, Williams, and Hudson were treated and released, with Jones being admitted. All were treated for numerous injuries from stab wounds.

Around 4 a.m. Sunday morning, officers arrived at Denny's to see a car fleeing the scene. Police attempted to stop the car and were led to a local hospital's emergency room where a male stabbing victim was rushed inside for treatment of knife wounds. Police discovered three additional men, still at Denny's, that had been stabbed multiple times during the fight.

Police are looking for multiple suspects based on interviews and video from inside Denny's. One arrest was made at the scene by DeWitt Police. Daejah M. Werntz, 18, of 214 Chafee Ave. in Syracuse, was arrested for obstructing governmental administration while officers attempted to interview people inside the restaurant. She was released on an appearance ticket.

There is no motive for the incident at this time. No employees or other patrons were injured.
