At their December meeting, the Betsy Baldwin Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution honored Ms. Elizabeth Ventura, the winner of the Chapter's DAR Good Citizen Award.
Elizabeth is the daughter of Michael and Kathleen Ventura of Baldwinsville.
The Good Citizen Award is presented annually to a senior high school student who possesses and exemplifies the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. In addition, as part of the National Scholarship Essay contest, an essay is written on an unknown topic, without benefit of any reference material or notes, and is used to test the student's knowledge of American Heritage.
Elizabeth's commitment to achieving excellence in her academic and athletic career is noteworthy, as is her commitment to community service. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, Jenna's Mentors/Baker Transitioning Team, as well as the Ex-Officio Student Member of the Baldwinsville School District Board of Education. She is a member of the Varsity Field Hockey Team and is a competitive horseback rider. Elizabeth has had numerous volunteer experiences including the Peer Tutoring program, Crouse Hospital Junior Volunteers and Field Hockey Youth program.
Following her graduation from Baker High School, Elizabeth plans to pursue a four-year degree at a college yet to be determined.
