Durgee students win essay contest

Maizy Ludden, left, received first place and Nate Fenlon received second place in the local portion of the 2010-11 Elks Americanism Essay Contest. Missing is Brian Arthur, who was awarded third place. The students are eighth-graders at Durgee Junior High School in Baldwinsville. Sponsored by the Liverpool Elks Lodge 2348, this year's essay theme is "Why I am Proud to be an American." The essays now move on to the Elks' district level of the contest.
