Public meeting on extending hydrofracking moratorium

A request has been made to extend the six month Moratorium in the town of Skaneateles on the new method of gas drilling known as High Volume Slick Water Hydrofracking.

The State of New York has an executive order in place to wait until the DEC reviews, and puts up for public comment, it's permitting document before issuing any permits for horizontal hydrofracking.

It was discussed at a previous town board meeting that the extension of this moratorium would coincide with the state's timelines on hydrofracking studies and possible new regulations.

This is a public hearing so the floor will be given to the public to voice support and concerns on the issue.

The public is also encouraged to attend the open Hydrofracking Committee meetings the first Monday of each month at 6:30 at the Town Hall on Jordan Street. Your input is welcome and encouraged.
