CBA basketball sweeps ESM

Two nights earlier, the CBA boys went to Fowler and took full advantage of the Falcons' long offensive drought to roll to a 66-34 victory.

Unlike their first meeting Dec. 12 in the Carrier Dome, Fowler did not have forward Malcolm Jones, who went out for the season with a leg injury suffered in the Dec. 29 final of the Mayor's Roundball Classic against Henninger.

Without him, Fowler had no clear answer for CBA's defensive approach. That led to a first half where, for more than 13 minutes, the Brothers held the Falcons without a field goal.

Cuomo had as many points (13) as the entire Fowler squad, and when the Falcons moved within 33-18 early in the third period, CBA countered with a 9-0 run and cruised the rest of he way.

Overall, Cuomo had 18 points, while Pete Gangemi earned 13 points in late-game reserve duty. Thomson earned 12 points as Drescher (eight points) and Evans (seven points) helped out.
