Letters to the editor

Our village heart still glows green

To the editor:

On Feb. 5, St. Ann's Parish will be commemorating the one year anniversary of Father Kevin Hannon's passing and celebrating his life with a mass and reception.

Fr. Kevin's years of service and dedication to his parish, his family, his friends and to the village of Manlius will always be a source of inspiration and comfort. Most of all, Fr. Kevin has left us with a lasting legacy. His example of faith, hope and love has made a lasting imprint on our village heart that will nurture us for generations to come.

Green lights at Gazebo Park will once again burn brightly beginning Feb. 5 as a symbolic expression that our affection for this devoted priest, selfless man and trusted friend is evergreen.

I invite all village residents, businesses and churches to join us once more in glowing green for Fr. Kevin. It is your collective generous spirit of kindness, support and compassion that makes Manlius so special ... in both good times and bad.

Every day I give thanks for having known him, and for Fr. Kevin making our lives in Manlius that much more wonderful.

Mark-Paul Serafin

Mayor of Manlius
