At 7 p.m. Friday Feb. 11, join a Beaver Lake Nature Center naturalist for a guided moonlit snowshoe hike. A winter moon will light the way as the group explores the nature center's woodlands and frozen marshes on snowshoes. This is a special opportunity to explore Beaver Lake's night world with an experienced guide. Registration is required beginning at 8 a.m. the day of the hike and space is limited. This program is $2 per person and will be offered only when snow conditions are acceptable. Please call the Nature Center at 638-2519 that day to register and check conditions. Snowshoes may be rented from Beaver Lake for $3.
Beaver Lake Nature Center is looking for third, fourth and fifth graders who enjoy participating in nature related fun and games. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. the week of Feb. 22 to 25 (Tuesday through Friday), the nature center is offering wild winter camp. Each day features different programs and will be full of activities, crafts and games that offer non-stop fun and beat the winter blues. Indoor activities will include live red-tailed hawk and turtle talks, while outdoor activities will involve snowshoeing, wildlife tracking and fun in the snow.
The price is $30 per day and children may attend for one day or all four. Advance registration is required.
Beaver Lake Nature Center is an Onondaga County Park located at 8477 East Mud Lake Road, four miles west of Baldwinsville off Route 370.
