J-E varsity lineman recognized by National Football Foundation

The National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame recently honored Jordan-Elbridge senior Sean Cooper at their annual Scholar-Athlete Awards Banquet held Jan. 30 at the Turning Stone Casino. Criteria for the award included academic and athletic performance as well as community involvement. The chapter dinner honors more than 50 scholar-athletes and numerous coaches, officials and promoters of the game of football.

"Sean has been a pleasure to coach," said coach Mike Smart, who nominated Sean. "He is a student of the game who is very dependable and very hard working on the athletic field and in the classroom."

Sean received a $500 Central New York Chapter Scholarship. Sean play offensive line for varsity football and will play on the varsity baseball team this spring.

Sean is the son of Rusty and Patti Cooper of Elbridge.
