Baldwinsville Board of Education honors music students

On Monday Jan. 24, the Baldwinsville Central School District Board of Education honored six Baker High School music students at its meeting. Board of Education President Victor Jenkins presented the students with certificates of excellence for being selected to perform at the 2010 NYSSMA All-State Music Conference, held in Rochester in December.

The board honored Kaitlyn Allen, Jeremy Bossert, Daniel Mullarney (alternate), Daniel Putnam and Ryan Sparkes for being invited to perform at the conference with the symphonic band. Sparkes was also honored for being invited to perform with the mixed chorus and Mullarney was honored for being invited to perform with the vocal jazz ensemble.

The board honored Zachary Brown, who was named an alternate for the symphony orchestra.

The board also recognized Steven Rosenberger, superintendent of buildings and grounds, and Michael Oemcke, Energy Coordinator for the district, for their efforts in reducing the district's energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. In December the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency named the Baldwinsville Central School District an ENERGY STAR Leader for 2010.
