North Syracuse creating Baseball Hall of Fame

— The rich history of baseball in the North Syracuse Central School District will be celebrated in more formal fashion beginning on May 18, 2012 when the NSCS Baseball Wall of Fame is dedicated in weekend festivities at the Gillette Road varsity diamond.

Alumni candidates must have graduated from North Syracuse, Cicero or Cicero-North Syracuse High Schools, played on the varsity team, and achieved a high level of excellence in the sport of baseball. In addition, friends of the program who have participated extensively in community service, volunteer activities, and in support of baseball in the school district may also be honored.

The NSCS Baseball Hall of Fame Alumni Committee will be making final decisions on inaugural selections on Jan. 10. Parties interested in submitting nominations should download forms posted at the alumni link on the Northstars Baseball website at nscs.org/cnsbaseball.

Also needed is community input and historical reference information on baseball team accomplishments dating back to the late 1920s so that all deserving Northmen, Golden Eagle and Northstar squads who won league, county, sectional, regional, or state championships can be appropriately listed on banners to be installed at the field. Anyone with confirming data or photos of NSCS championship baseball teams is asked to contact Alumni Committee member Jon Cooley at 699-6595.
