The Peppino’s Invitational, sponsored by Peppino’s Pizzeria, is an annual season-opening showcase hosted by Henninger. Thirteen of the area’s best teams are slated to participate this season. The Black Knights are the only team that will play two games during the three-day jamboree.

The locals tip with J-D tonight at 7:45. Tomorrow, Utica Proctor battles Rush-Henrietta at 6 p.m. before Cicero-North Syracuse and Fairport tangle at 7:45. Saturday sees four games, beginning with Onondaga facing LaFayette at noon. At 2, Skaneateles and Cortland square off before Bishop Grimes and New York Mills clash at 4. Henninger and CBA close the action that evening at 6.

Tickets are $5 per session.

“We’ve been doing the tournament for a while, and it’s a good way for people to see a lot of great area basketball over three days,” said Saroney. “It’s something the school looks forward to doing each year.”
