continued The Lakers will be tested early and often. The "early" part" is in the form of a season-opening tournament featuring host Canandaigua, Honeoye Falls, and West Genesee, a trip to traditional Class AA power Cicero-North Syracuse, followed by a rivalry game at Marcellus.
"We're starting off with some of the best schools we could play," Atwater said. "That's exactly what we want."
The "often" part means the always challenging OHSL Liberty division. Marcellus is a team Atwater said will be strong. So will Westhill, Cazenovia, and the rest of the league lineup.
Atwater can't wait for the competition. He's hopeful last year's great run and graduation losses can work to the Lakers' advantage.
"I think a lot of people are probably saying 'ah Skaneateles. They graduated everybody. They're going to be a little down,'" Atwater said. "I don't believe that. I believe they'll be surprised when they play us. That's our outlook."
