With fall just around the corner, parks and rec going strong

— It’s hard to believe that fall is just around the corner. The kids will be heading off to school but the Town of Marcellus Parks and Recreation office has plenty of fun activities to keep everyone busy and entertained.

This fall we are offering the community a trip to New York City! Saturday, Nov. 19 we will depart from Marcellus at 6 a.m. and arrive in NYC at about 11:30 am. The entire day and evening is free for you to enjoy the city on your own. We will stay at the Comfort Inn Theatre District located at 343-44th street. The hotel is minutes from world-famous New York City attractions. Guests will enjoy being minutes from popular landmarks like Time Square, Central Park, and the Empire State Building. Broadway and New York’s Theater District is within walking distance. On Sunday enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast included at the hotel. You are then free to explore the city on your own before we depart at 3:00 p.m. Our estimated time back in Marcellus will be 8:30 p.m. The cost per person is based on hotel occupancy and starts at $214 per person for a group of four. Please call the recreation office for more information and to register.

Monday, Sept. 12, we will be traveling to the Turning Stone Casino for a day of Bingo. This trip costs $15 per person and you will receive $10 in Bingo Bucks to use as you choose and a $5 meal coupon. This trip is open to any adults ages 18 and older. The bus will leave Marcellus at 8:30 a.m. and return to Marcellus at approximately 5:00 p.m. The registration deadline is Aug. 26. Our last Bingo trip to the Turning Stone Casino this year is on Oct. 3.

Starting Tuesdays, Sept. 13 through Nov. 2, we will be holding chair caning in the Welcome Center at Marcellus Park. It will be Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and will cost $28 per person. Additional materials are required prior to the beginning of classes. Please contact instructor Diane Piorkowski at 636-8822 for details.
