Library Focus: Enjoy the peace, quiet before school begins

— Here we are again at the end of August. Our programs aren’t quite over but the schedule is light to give our users more time for State Fair, school shopping and college prep. In other words, it is an excellent time to drop in and enjoy the peace and quiet that falls before the school year rush.

Computers save

This month’s computer classes will help you navigate some of the new possibilities. Save online at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 24 as we teach you the basics of online shopping. Save even more on Friday, Aug. 26, with a guided tour of our nifty new collection of free music downloads Freegal. Last, but never least, learn how to make your information more portable at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 31 as we teach you how to move files around.

Jobseekers’ Club

Work with other jobseekers and one of our librarians to discover new leads, approaches and techniques at 1 p.m. Thursdays.

The group meets at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, to turn over a new page. Registration and $20 materials fee required.

Basket workshops

At 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, the group will finish the outer basket of the nesting baskets project, which began last month. Registration and a $45 materials fee are required.

Valerie Chism is the young adult librarian at the Baldwinsville Public Library.
