B'ville FACS teachers prepare for state changes

— The New York State Association of Family and Consumer Science (FACS) Educators held a professional development conference July 26 and 27 in Owego, which proved energizing for approximately 50 teachers from around New York State.

The sessions provided an opportunity for participants to learn about the common core standards in language arts, how to bring green learning and energy conservation into classrooms and how to continue quality FACS programs as an integral part of career and technical education.

All of the sessions were tailored to assist teachers in meeting the needs of students as they strive to reach the college and career readiness anchor standards. Local FACS educators, Marge Jock and Christina Rode, from the Baldwinsville Central School District, were participants in this valuable educational experience.
