Student parking changes at Baker HS

— Student parking will no longer be available in the Word of Life’s parking lot.

The Baldwinsville Central School District has decided to eliminate this parking option for Baker High School students during the 2011-12 school year due to the addition of a parking lot near the athletic fields on the district campus, as well as to save roughly $10,000 in snow plowing and a stipend to pay a district staff member to monitor the lot.

All student drivers who are issued a parking pass will be parking on district property, either in the lot behind the high school or in the lot near the athletic fields. There are a total of 175 student parking spaces available on campus.

All students wishing to park on campus must apply online at bville.org. Click on the link to “Schools” at the top of the page, then click on the link to “Baker.” On Baker’s page, click on the link to “Student Info,” and look for the link to the online application.

In order to park on campus, students must have completed the following: attended a mandatory parking meeting; taken the Alive at 25 program; completed the online application; and paid the parking fee ($20 for year, $15 for semester). Baker High School will assign spots to seniors first, then to juniors if there are any spots left. At the end of August, the high school will contact all students who are eligible for a parking pass. All students who plan to park on campus beginning with the first day of school must have a parking pass.
