The public is invited to join the Cazenovia Tree Commission at 9 a.m., Saturday April 23 in Memorial Park for a ceremony and tree installation in honor of Arbor Day.
This year's event will take on added significance, as the tree being planted, a sugar maple, is donated by the Cazenovia Garden Club to mark the Village's bicentennial.
The choice of sugar maple as the bicentennial tree is particularly appropriate because sugar maples have traditionally been a large part of Cazenovia and have always been landmarks in the Memorial Park location.
During the ceremony, all those who have made donations to the Tree Commission over the past year will be recognized.
If anyone would like to donate a tree to the village for installation this year please contact Village Trustee Amy Mann at email@example.com. The Tree Commission is actively seeking ways to continue repopulating the village with trees in these challenging financial times, and is encouraging people to consider donating a tree to memorialize a loved one or recognize a special moment such as the birth of a child or a wedding anniversary.
All donations will be recognized at the Commission's Arbor Day event in 2012.
