Pennies for patients at St. Mary's Academy

During this season of Lent, the students at St. Mary's Academy are preparing for Jesus' dying and rising into heaven.

Father Abe, the congregation's pastor, asked students to consider what they might sacrifice for Lent either through good deeds or giving up something special, and for the 11th year, students chose to support the Western & Central New York Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The mission of this organization is to provide a CURE for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life for patients and their families.

Students raised $1,817.71 through donations of snack money and allowances for the organization, all of which will go to benefit patients and families locally.
